Letters Are Telling – Copper envelope series

The Domus Primavera exhibition at LokalGallery 2026 presents Letters Are Telling, a series of copper envelopes. Originating from Pått’s studies at the Institute of Art and Design Helsinki and her early work with copper under silversmith Bertel Gardberg, the series continues ideas previously explored in handmade paper. The rhythmic repetition of the envelopes is inspired by Japanese Buddhist architecture, particularly the sculptural installation of one thousand and one Buddhas at Sanjusangen-do temple in eastern Kyoto. The Copper envelope series highlights Irina Pått’s long-term dialogue between material and cultural exchange, spanning more than five decades of design practice.
